Three men arrested after cigarettes stolen during Belfast robbery

Three men have been arrested after a quantity of cigarettes were stolen during a robbery at a shop in east Belfast.

A man entered the shop in the Kings Road area at around 7.30pm on Monday and forced a female staff member to fill bags with cigarettes before making off in a silver BMW car being driven by another man.

Police located the car a short time later on Grace Street.

Two men, aged 34 and 46, were then arrested on suspicion of robbery. A third man, aged 56, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

A quantity of cigarettes was also recoverd.

The three men remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Keith Wilson said: "Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1762 03/06/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
