Three men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over Coleraine shooting

Three men have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a man in Coleraine.

The men aged 42, 37 and 36 were arrested in the Coleraine area on suspicion of attempted murder and are all currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.

They are being held over a shooting in the Co Londonderry town on Thursday.

Police believe that loyalist paramilitaries with strong links to the UDA are behind a series of punishment-style attacks in the north Antrim area.

The latest shooting happened in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Maple Drive area.

Just before 4am police received a report that four masked men entered the house and shot a man aged in his early 20s.

The injured man tried to escape and was pursued by the gunmen who shot him again outside the house.
