Three people left injured after Larne collision

By David Young

Three people were taken to hospital yesterday after a three vehicle road traffic collision near Larne.

The incident took place around four o'clock at a roundabout where the Shane's Hill Road joins the main A8 Belfast-Larne road near Millbrook.

Three Accident & Emergency crews and two rapid response paramedics raced to the scene of the collision.

The three crash victims were then taken to Antrim Area Hospital with non-life threatening injures, a Northern Ireland Ambulance Service source said last night.

The A8 collision caused extensive rush-hour tailbacks as diversions were put in place while police began their investigations into the cause of the carriageway collision.

Traffic was also disrupted for a time on the M2 motorway at Fortwilliam near Belfast yesterday evening, after a three vehicle collision

It's understood that there were no injuries arising out of that incident, and the motorway was cleared for traffic.
