Three questioned over kidnapping

Three people are being questioned by detectives investigating the kidnap of a man who was held for almost 24 hours in the boot of a car.

A 32-year-old man was detained in the Antrim area on Sunday afternoon following Saturday's arrests of a 33-year-old man and 31-year-old woman in Ballymoney.

They are being quizzed about the abduction of 35-year-old Mark Thompson in Randalstown on Thursday.

He was abducted from his home at Kemmil Hill after returning from walking his dog when three masked assailants armed with knives and sticks confronted him.

The victim, who is not connected to a bank or business, was threatened and bundled into his own silver BMW then driven around while the gang tried unsuccessfully to extort money from his family.

He was released unharmed near Armoy, Co Antrim, early on Friday.
