Three-hour operation to save sinking yacht

By Claire Williamson

A 40ft yacht was towed to shore yesterday morning in what's thought to have been a three-hour operation.

The Red Bay All Weather and Inshore lifeboats were launched at 8.45 am to go to the aid of a sinking yacht near Cushendall.

Salvage pumps from both lifeboats were transferred to the yacht along with four lifeboat crew members who were able to save the vessel from sinking.

The lifeboats then towed the yacht to Red Bay where it was safely brought ashore.

It's not thought anyone was injured in the operation.
