Three-month term for yob who abused hospital staff

By Eamonn MacDermott

A man has been jailed for being disorderly at Altnagelvin Hospital.

Eamonn Brady (32), of St Anne's Gardens in Greysteel, admitted the offence, which occurred on November 19.

Londonderry Magistrates Court heard that police were called to the hospital and found Brady in an "agitated state". He was warned about his behaviour but persisted.

He shouted at hospital staff that they were "Provo loving c****" and was arrested.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client had been in a bad place as his partner had died some months previously and he had found himself homeless. The solicitor said Brady "in desperation" had gone to A&E to sleep there and accepts his behaviour was "reprehensible".

District Judge Barney McElholm said his behaviour was "absolutely disgraceful" and jailed him for three months, to start after a five-month sentence he is already serving.
