A pensioner from west Belfast has been viciously attacked by a mugger for just £15.
Florence Slane (78) was left with one arm in a cast and the other in a sling after a man shoved her to the ground near her Devenish Court home as she returned from bingo on Tuesday.
“All I’ve done since is cry,” Florence told the BBC’s Evening Extra programme last night. “I wake up crying. It has really affected me.
“‘He was very tall and slim, but I didn’t get a look at his face. I couldn’t get up — I have knee trouble. I was crying and shouting for help, but there was no one about.
“It has really upset me. It’ll take me a long time to heal. You never think it’s going to happen to you. It’s sad they have to stoop to that level. They’re somebody’s sons.”
Florence also had a message for the robber, who made off with £15. “(They should) think of their own mothers and grandmothers,” the pensioner said.
The PSNI said that the attacker was believed to have left the scene in a white vehicle. They urged anyone who saw the attack or anyone who has any information to contact them on 101.
