Thug with 'bulging eyes' hunted in Carrickfergus

Police in Carrickfergus are looking for a dog walker with "bulging eyes" who attacked a man leaving him with severe injuries.

The vicious assault took place in the Prince William Way area on Monday August 26, but was only made public yesterday.

At around 6.30pm a man walking his dog behind a leisure centre was assaulted by another male dog walker after they had a verbal altercation.

A PSNI spokesman said: "The 43-year-old victim was struck on the side of the face and knocked unconscious for a time. He sustained fractures to his face including his jaw and eye socket as well as severe bruising and possible nerve damage."

The assailant, who was walking two Japanese Akita dogs, is described as around 6ft 3in, of medium build with "bulging" eyes and was wearing blue jeans and a dark blue hoody.

Detectives said they are keen to speak to witnesses and would particularly like to hear from two women who tended to the victim shortly after he was attacked.
