By John Mulgrew

A family have escaped injury after they were held hostage during a tiger kidnapping in west Belfast.

They were forced to hand over cash to an armed gang during the robbery which happened on Wednesday morning.

Their ordeal began when a caller to the home - posing as a postman - produced a gun and demanded money.

He then held a man and woman hostage until another family member was forced to take cash from his work, before handing it over to a gang member at Fallswater Street off the Falls Road at 9.30am.

All three members of the family were said to be safe, with one taken to hospital for examination.

Police are appealing for information.
