Titanic Belfast has scooped the Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction accolade at the prestigious World Travel Awards.

Titanic Belfast beat competition from the likes of the Acropolis, Colosseum and Eiffel Tower at a gala ceremony in Sardinia on Sunday.

Tourism NI chief executive John McGrillen said: "My colleagues and I at Tourism NI are extremely proud of the achievements of Titanic Belfast over the past four years.

"The Titanic Belfast team has exceeded our expectations in terms of creating a step change for tourism in Northern Ireland and a catalyst for wider economic growth.

"I have every confidence that Titanic Belfast will remain at the heart of our tourism industry for decades to come," added Mr McGrillen.

Titanic Belfast will now face off against its rivals for the title of World's Leading Attraction at the grand final ceremony, which will take place in the Maldives on December 12.
