Tourist injured at Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge
Visitors at a popular Co Antrim beauty spot watched on in shock as a female tourist was rescued by emergency services.
The 38-year-old, who is understood to be visiting from the Middle East, tumbled on the steps as she attempted to walk across the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge yesterday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the NI Coastguard said they received the call at 4.16pm and dispatched a rescue crew.
"We assisted the casualty who had fallen at the foot of the bridge before handing her over into the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service," they said.
A first response team and an ambulance crew also attended the scene.
It is understood the injured woman was then taken by ambulance to the nearby Causeway Hospital in Coleraine with a suspected fracture in her leg or foot.
