Tragic Belfast teenager Megan McCallion to be buried tomorrow

By Lesley Houston

The grieving family of tragic schoolgirl Megan McCallion are preparing to lay their only daughter to rest tomorrow.

The 15-year-old died on Monday following an accidental fall at her north Belfast home on Saturday.

Megan had been a pupil at Dominican College near her Antrim Road home.

Only daughter of Kevin and Eileen, she is also survived by her younger brother Conor.

Megan will be laid to rest on Friday following Requiem Mass at St Gerard's Church, Antrim Road, before being buried at Roselawn cemetery.

The girl's family was yesterday too grief-stricken to speak to reporters. The death of the grammar school pupil was relayed to other students during a special assembly on Tuesday.

Staff and pupils at the girls' school paid their respects to the teenager by tying colourful ribbons on a tree on the grounds of the school, located in the Fortwilliam area of the city.

Floral tributes were also laid at the foot of the tree in Megan's memory.
