Trial date set for dentist accused of sex assaults

By Staff Reporter

A county Tyrone dentist is to go on trial in relation to multiple sexual assault charges after pleading not guilty.

Appearing in the dock of Dungannon Crown Court was Eamonn Patrick Edward McCann (57) of Dublin Road, Omagh.

He is accused of sexually assaulting a female on six occasions between August 31 and October 1, 2015.

Wearing a navy suit, white shirt and blue tie, McCann spoke calmly and clearly as he denied all charges.

He has maintained his innocence from the outset of proceedings.

He was accompanied to court by his wife, who was seated in the public gallery throughout the short hearing.

A defence barrister described the case to the court as "relatively straightforward" and estimated it would last three to four days.

His Honour Judge Stephen Fowler QC set the trial for hearing on September 11.

McCann was remanded on continuing bail of £200.
