The son of a former North Down deputy mayor who has died has described him as a hero.
Dennis Ogborn MBE, a former councillor, served Holywood on the local authority between 1989 and 2005. He was 94.
Expressing his condolences yesterday, DUP MLA Gordon Dunne said: "Dennis was a former councillor in Holywood on North Down Borough Council for many years and former deputy mayor.
"He was also a hard working member of the Holywood Residents' Association and in 2018 he was gifted a commemorative bench in Holywood by the association on his retirement.
"Dennis had a real passion for making a difference and was often at the forefront in getting Holywood prepared for Best Kept Town Awards. Dennis was awarded his MBE in 1996.
Linfield FC said Dennis "was the dearly beloved father of one of our most well known and well travelled Linfield supporters and full club member Ivan Ogborn".
Mr Ogborn passed away peacefully yesterday morning, having been ill for some time.
In a text message the day before, Ivan had referred to his dad as his hero with whom he had an unbelievable bond.
