Tributes to Anita Rooney who died in suspected fall at Craigavon Area Hospital

'She had a great witty sense of humour, the life and soul'

Tributes have been paid to a woman who died suddenly at Craigavon Area Hospital.

Named locally as Anita Rooney, the highly-respected businesswoman in the Dungannon area died in the hospital on Wednesday, May 18.

It's believed she may have fallen from a fourth floor landing.

The Southern Health and Social Care Health Trust called it a "tragic incident".

SDLP councillor Denise Mullen recalled Mrs Rooney as a "mother and friend to many".

She said: "I recall when my Aunt Annie died, Anita was one of her many neighbours that springs to mind. She was there with a helping hand to sort things out and for that I was always truly grateful to her.

"Her husband, a true gentleman, I offer my condolences to him and their children. She had a great witty sense of humour, the life and soul.

Police are investigating the sudden death.

A spokesman for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust added: "We can confirm the tragic incident involving the death of a patient at Craigavon Area Hospital.

"We are cooperating fully with the PSNI investigation."
