Tributes to 'fun-loving' victim of Co Armagh car crash

By Allan Preston

Tributes have been paid to a "fun-loving" young woman who died in a road crash in Co Armagh.

The victim, a passenger in a car that collided with a lorry on the Legacorry Road at 3.35pm on Thursday, has been named as 20-year-old Shannon Weir from Tandragee.

The woman driving the vehicle was last night in a critical condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Local councillor Paul Berry, who called with the victim's family yesterday, said there was "great shock and deep sadness" at the tragic accident.

"Our thoughts are also with the young lady who is seriously ill at this time and we trust that she will make a recovery," he added.

"Just last week, a few miles away, two young lads lost their lives as a result of a car accident, and there are many heavy hearts in the general area."

Shannon's friends also expressed grief at the loss of the "horse-mad, fun-loving" woman.
