Tributes have been paid to a teenager who died in a car crash outside Enniskillen at the weekend.

David McNulty (18), from the Belcoo area, died following the one-vehicle collision on the Lattone Road.

It happened between the villages of Garrison and Belcooshortly before 3am on Saturday.

The Lattone Road, which was closed in both directions for several hours after the crash, was later reopened to traffic.

Sean Burns, from Belcoo GAC, said that Mr McNulty was a popular and highly respected young football player. He said that David was also training to be an electrician.

"He was a salt-of-the-earth young fella, he just won an award for being apprentice of the year in the local college," said Mr Burns. "He was a very quiet, unassuming young man.

"I coached him at under-14 and 16. He was very enthusiastic and highly mannered young man, very committed to his football. He was very popular among his classmates."

A PSNI spokesman said a blue Seat Toledo was located off the road in the area shortly before 3am on Saturday.
