Tributes have been paid to a well-known Portadown mum who has passed away after a battle with cancer.

Lynsey Courtney died peacefully on Sunday surrounded by her loving family in Belfast City Hospital.

The Loughgall Road woman was the mother of Callum, precious daughter of Ron and Sandra, beloved sister of Keith and Gareth, and much loved auntie of Katie-Lyn, according to a death notice.

Ms Courtney's funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1.30pm in Drumcree Parish Church with committal following in the adjoining graveyard.

Carla Lockhart, DUP Assembly member for Upper Bann, expressed her condolences on social media - one of over 300 tributes on Facebook.

"Can't get this young woman out of my head. Devastating for her family," she wrote.

"Cancer is just so cruel and takes the very best too soon!

"Will be remembering Lynsey's family and friends at this very sad time."

In its own statement on Facebook, local football club Loughgall FC said it was "deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Lynsey Courtney".

"We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Lynsey's family and friends at this difficult time," the club added.
