Tributes to young Tyrone mum Jolene O'Hagan after sudden death

By Cate McCurry

Tributes have been paid to a young mother-of-two who died suddenly at the weekend.

Jolene O'Hagan, from Co Tyrone, was rushed to hospital on Sunday after she became seriously ill.

The Cookstown woman, who is understood to be aged in her 20s, was engaged to Johnathan Smyth and they had two young sons, Alfie and Theo.

It's understood Ms O'Hagan fell ill on Saturday evening, but after wakening on Sunday morning, her condition worsened.

She collapsed at her family home and was rushed to hospital, where she later died.

Her family has asked for donations to be made to Thrombosis UK charity.

Dungannon Swifts Football Club were among those to pay tribute to the young mum.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Swifts fan Jolene," they said.

Local councillor Trevor Wilson said his sympathies are with her young family. "It's a terrible tragedy, the loss of a young life and mother," he said.

"My thoughts and prayers are with her children and fiance and family at this sad time."

She is survived by her fiance, Johnathan, her two children, parents Laverne and Shane, step-parents Paula and William and sisters Sarah-Louise, Rhiannon, Emily and Ellie.

Her funeral will take place tomorrow at Derryloran Parish Church in Cookstown at 1pm followed by burial at Cookstown cemetery.
