Two 12-year-old boys assaulted by gang in Belfast

The PSNI has appealed for information after an assault was carried out on two twelve-year-old boys in Belfast.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon at around 4.30pm as the two boys were walking towards a bus stop on the Glen Road.

They were close to a public house when they were approached by a gang of unknown male youths.

Both of the boys felt something on their necks and one of them fell to the ground. He was later treated in hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life threateneing.

Police are working to establish what type of weapon was used in the assault.

Sergeant Tom Donnelly has appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the attack to contact Police in Woodbourne on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference 811 with the date 06/09/17.

Members of the public can also give information anonymously through independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
