Two arrested after police seize £15k worth of drugs and £8k cash

A man and a woman have been arrested after police seized drugs and cash in east Belfast on Thursday.

The man, 28 and the woman, 27 have been arrested on suspicion of drug supply and possession offences.

At around 6.30pm on Thursday, police officers stopped two men acting suspiciously just off the Ravenhill Road in east Belfast.

During a search of one of the men, class B drugs were found in his possession.

In a follow-up search of a nearby property, suspected herbal cannabis and an amount of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of £15,000 was located and seized along with other drug related paraphilia and £8,000 in cash.

A woman at the property was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply. Both people have now been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"Once again, we appeal to anyone who knows anything about illegal drugs or drug dealing in their area to contact local police on the non-emergency number 101," a spokesperson said.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
