Two arrested and released on bail after police officers hurt in collision

Two police officers have been injured after a suspected stolen car collided with their vehicle, Police Service of Northern Ireland said.

A 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, but have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Responding to reports of a domestic incident in Donaghadee at around 11pm on Friday, the officers saw a car, believed to have been involved, travelling on the Movilla Road into Newtownards.

The car failed to stop for police when signalled to do so and then struck the police vehicle a number of times as it made off, PSNI said.

The officers, who were in the police car at the time, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A short time later, the vehicle was located in the Drumhirk Avenue area of Newtownards.
