Two arrested in cross-border operation over Edward Gibson murder

Two people have been arrested over the murder of Edward Gibson in Belfast last year.

The 28-year-old was shot in the stomach and thigh at Clonfaddan Crescent, in the Divis area of the city, on October 24 last year.

The father-of-one died in hospital early the next day.

Detectives from PSNI Serious Crime Branch arrested a 56-year-old woman in Belfast on Wednesday.

The suspect has been taken to Musgrave station for questioning.

In the Republic of Ireland, gardai detectives arrested a 47-year-old man in Donegal.

He is being questioned at Ballyshannon station.

The officer leading the PSNI murder investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Justyn Galloway, said: “Although one man has been charged with Edward Gibson’s murder, this investigation is continuing.

"Our enquiries have led us to the Republic and we are working closely with colleagues in An Garda Siochana. I would continue to appeal to anyone with information about Mr Gibson’s murder to come forward to police.”
