Two people arrested over a bomb which was placed under a police officer's car in east Belfast have been released unconditionally.

A 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested by detectives from PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit investigating the attempted murder of the senior officer on Saturday June 2.

People arrested under the Terrorism Act must be charged, released pending report to the PPS or released unconditionally. Bail is not permitted under the act.

The bomb was found under the officer's car outside Shandon Park Golf Club.

Detectives believe dissident republicans were behind the murder attempt.
