Two arrested over house murder

Two people have been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a man who was attacked in his own home.

Stephen Davidson, 31, was found dead in his house in Ballyholme Road, Bangor, on Sunday evening.

The body of the unemployed man, who lived alone, was discovered by a relative.

Police arrested a 40-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman in the Bangor area. Detectives believe Mr Davidson's killers may have been known to him.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Richard Campbell said the victim was found in the living room of the detached house. He said there was evidence of a violent struggle.

"It appears that he has been involved in some sort of altercation in the house and as a result of that he has sustained fatal injuries," he added.

The officer appealed for information about Mr Davidson's movements on Saturday night through to the time his body was discovered at 5pm on Sunday.

"We know that he was in the Newtownards Road area of Bangor around 9.30pm on Saturday and I am very interested and very keen to speak to anyone who may have been with him at the time, or who may have been in contact with him or saw him between then and the time he was found here on Sunday evening," said the detective, speaking outside the murder scene.

"I am also interested to appeal to the residents of Ballyholme Road and anyone who may have been in this area on Saturday evening into the early hours of Sunday morning and right throughout Sunday morning to come forward and talk to me if they saw anything at all, any activity at all around this house."

Mr Campbell said he also wanted to talk to anyone who was at Mr Davidson's address over this period.
