Drugs and cash were seized during police searches in Belfast.

Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force and the PSNI's Tactical Support Group carried out searches of two houses in the Shankill area yesterday under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Items were seized including herbal cannabis, class C controlled drugs and cash, suspected to be criminal property.

A 25-year-old male and a 25-year-old female were arrested for offences including possession of class B controlled drugs with intent to supply.

The PSNI said. "These searches are further evidence that PCTF are proactively investigating criminality linked to illegal drug dealing activity.

"Drugs cause misery to users and their families and the proceeds of their sale go to fund paramilitary activity.

"We urge anyone with information about any criminality linked to drugs to contact police on 101 or anonymously through the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
