Two children knocked down: Boy (6) hit by car in Newtownabbey and girl (12) struck in Derry

Two children have been knocked down by cars in separate accidents on Tuesday.

A six-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital, after he was stuck by a car in the Carnmoney Road area.

He has been taken to a nearby hospital.

The Carnmoney Road is closed at the junction with Glebcoole Park and the junction of Portland Avenue.

Elsewhere in Derry a 12-year-old girl was knocked down by a car on the Foyle Road.

She was treated as the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries

The Foyle Road from the Craigavon Bridge had been closed for a time but has since reopened.
