Two cousins jailed over £330k haul of drugs in flat

By Ashleigh McDonald

Two cousins from Newtownabbey have been jailed after drugs with an estimated value of £330,000 were seized from an apartment in Templepatrick.

Daryl Patton (33) from Dorchester Avenue and Andrew Ferguson (28) of Parkmount Court were handed prison sentences after appearing at Belfast Crown Court.

Father-of-one Patton, who leased the flat in Templepatrick where the cocaine and cannabis was found in March last year, was given a 27-month sentence after admitting possessing criminal property, namely money made from drug deals.

His sentence will be divided equally between a jail term and release on licence.

Co-accused Ferguson, who walked into a police station five months after the search to admit he brought the drugs into the flat, was handed a 32-month sentence for drugs offences including possessing cocaine with intent to supply. He will serve 12 months in jail, followed by 20 months on licence after release.
