Police have seized a cache of suspected heroin and arrested two men on suspicion of drug trafficking and money laundering offences.
The suspects, aged 23 and 26, were detained in east Belfast yesterday after being seen acting suspiciously in the Beersbridge Road area.
The heroin stash is estimated to have a street value in excess of £1,000, according to police sources. Cash was also recovered from the suspects, who were being interrogated at the city's Musgrave Street police station yesterday.
Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop said: "We have been working closely with our colleagues to identify and arrest those suspected of supplying heroin on the streets of Belfast.
"The PSNI is determined to reduce the availability of this killer drug - and those convicted of supplying heroin can expect to face lengthy custodial sentences as a result.
"I appeal to heroin users to seek help before it is too late."
