Two people have been arrested on suspicion of firearms and explosives offences after a raid in north Belfast.

The pair, aged 59, were detained following a police operation yesterday.

Detectives from PSNI Organised Crime Unit made the arrests and seized items following the search of the property in the Havana Gardens area.

Detective Inspector Chris Millar said: "A man and a woman, aged 59, were arrested on suspicion of firearms and explosives offences. They are currently in custody, assisting with inquiries.

"Detectives also seized a number of items which have been taken away for examination."
