Two men are arrested after Belfast man is threatened in attack

Two men have been arrested after a man was threatened by two thugs who vandalised a house with wheel braces.

They smashed the front door and windows of the property in Forfar Street, Belfast, at around 10.35am on Sunday and attempted to assault the victim in his 30s.

Before making off in a black VW Golf, the culprits damaged a vehicle parked in the street.

The victim, another male and a woman in her 30s were unhurt but badly shaken.

Police said a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, threats to kill, criminal damage and driving offences. A 44-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and criminal damage.

Detective Inspector Peter Mullan said: "Both men are in custody assisting with enquiries and I appeal for anyone who has information relating to the incident to contact Musgrave police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
