Two men arrested in Newtownards after gun, ammunition and drugs discovered released
Two men arrested under the Terrorism Act after a gun, ammunition and £15,000 worth of cannabis thought to be linked to loyalist paramilitaries was seized at a house in Newtownards have been released.
Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force arrested the men, aged 24 and 72, on Wednesday.
The men have been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
Detective Sergeant Conor Sweeney said: "This search and arrest operation forms part of our ongoing investigations into loyalist paramilitary activity. The men are currently being questioned by detectives at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite.
"We will continue to disrupt criminality linked to paramilitaries in our communites. Local people do not want to live with the fear and control they try to exert through their criminal activities."
Anyone with information about paramilitary activity should contact police on 101.
