Two men held over city sword attack


A 35-year-old man has been attacked with a sword and a knife during an aggravated burglary in his home.

Two men – aged 28 and 26 – have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident in the Alliance Court area of north Belfast in the early hours of yesterday.

Police said the victim was attacked by two men, one armed with a sword and knife, at around 2.50am.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Police received reports that a 35-year-old man had been injured after two men entered his house, one armed with a sword and one armed with a knife.

"The two men made off in a silver Transit van in the direction of Ligoneil.

"The 35-year-old man required hospital treatment for his injuries but was released a time later."

Detective Chief Inspector Little appealed: "I would ask anyone that has any information about this incident to contact CID in Tennent Street Police Station on 0845 600 8000, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
