Two men hospitalised after being attacked with iron bars

Two men have been taken to hospital after being attacked in Newtownabbey on Wednesday night.

Police are investigating a serious assault following the incident at Ballyfore Walk around 10.15pm.

It was reported two men aged 33 and 59 had been assaulted during an incident involving three males possibly with iron bars.

Initial enquires by police established a number of cars left the area with their wheels spinning.

The two men were subsequently taken to hospital for treatment, at this stage their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. 

Detective Sergeant Coulter appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what occurred, or who has any information which could assist our investigation, to get in touch by calling 101, quoting reference number 2212 of 24/07/19," he said.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
