Two men hospitalised after Portrush stabbing

Two men are in hospital after being stabbed in Portrush.

The incident happened in the Glentasie Park area of the town at around 10:30pm on Thursday when three men were involved in an altercation.

One man in his 30s and another in his 20s were stabbed and taken to hospital, where their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A male in his late teens was arrested close to the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and affray.

He is currently in police custody.

Detective Inspector Peter McKenna said: "We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage from the area at the time of the altercation to contact detectives in Coleraine on 101, quoting reference number 2229 25/07/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
