Two men have been remanded in custody charged with hijacking a bakery delivery van as part of an alleged blackmail plot.

Paul Faloon and Caomhan Lennon are also accused of making threats to kill during the incident in west Belfast.

The pair were arrested after the van driver was forced to hand over the keys to his vehicle at Ladybrook Park on Saturday.

Following a police pursuit the van was halted and seized for examination.

Faloon (31), from Bawnmore Drive in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, and Lennon (19), of Springhill Gardens, Belfast, were arrested in the area.

They are jointly charged with hijacking, aggravated vehicle taking, blackmail, threats to kill and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Faloon is further accused of motoring offences, including driving while unfit, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.
