Two men stabbed with kitchen knife, court told


Two men hospitalised after a double stabbing were attacked with a kitchen knife, a court has heard.

In a violent assault in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon, a man aged 21 was knifed with the kitchen blade three times and taken to hospital. A 30-year-old was stabbed once and later discharged from hospital.

A man accused of the attacks in the Brookvale Walk area of Lurgan around 1.50pm, appeared in Lisburn Magistrates Court yesterday on eight charges.

Defendant Damien McMahon (28) from Brookvale Walk, Lurgan, faced an additional five charges to the three relating to the stabbing, including possessing class B drugs and damaging a police cell.

The defendant was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on August 23 in Craigavon via video link.

Meanwhile a teenager is in custody charged with attempted murder in connection with a separate incident in the Co Armagh town at the end of last week.

Caolan Coleman (18), of Castle Lane in Lurgan, is accused of attempting to murder his 23-year-old friend at a house party in the Co Armagh town.
