Two people in hospital after horror crash in Ballycastle

Two people were taken to hospital following a serious three-vehicle road traffic collision on Ballycastle's Moyarget Road on Saturday evening.

The Northern Ireland Air Ambulance airlifted one person to the Royal Victoria Hospital, where they are believed to be in a serious condition. Another person was taken by ambulance to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, but their condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

Sinn Fein Councillor Cara McShane said her "thoughts and prayers are with those involved and their families".

A Northern Trust spokesperson confirmed that one person had been taken to the Causeway Hospital after the incident. No further updates were available at the time of going to press. A condition report on the person who was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital was not available at the time of going to press.

The Moyarget Road was closed in both directions in the wake of the crash, with diversions in place at the junctions of Magheramore Road and Islandarragh Road.
