Two people in hospital after road accident on A1

Two people were taken to hospital after a serious crash on the A1 near Newry.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call just after 4pm yesterday following reports of a two vehicle crash near the Armagh Road junction.

One rapid response paramedic, two emergency crews and two ambulance officers attended.

The Air Ambulance was also tasked to attend the incident.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was brought by ambulance to Royal Victoria Hospital and another to Daisy Hill Hospital.

Separately yesterday, a man was taken to hospital following a seven vehicle crash between Templepatrick and Antrim. The Ambulance Service sent three emergency crews to the scene following a call at 8.26am.
