Two released on bail after man killed in Ballygowan road smash

By Staff Reporter

Two people who were being questioned about the death of a man in his 60s in a road crash close to Ballygowan have been released.

The 22-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were arrested after the two-vehicle collision on the Comber Road on Wednesday evening.

The PSNI said yesterday that the pair had been freed on bail pending further enquiries.

The 22-year-old had been driving the black BMW that collided with the victim's silver-coloured Proton Persona.

The woman was arrested later close to the scene, and both were questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police have appealed for anyone who was travelling on the Comber Road at the time to contact them.

They said: "Anyone with any information is asked to contact the PSNI in Bangor in the Collision Investigation Unit on the non-emergency 101 number quoting reference 1387 with the date 20/06/2018."
