Two people were rushed to hospital after a two-vehicle collision on the A26 Crankill Road outside Ballymena.

The collision — involving a car and a lorry belonging to Craigavon- based transport industry firm Allen Logistics — took place just before 2.45pm on Friday, according to a spokesman for the NI Ambulance Service (NIAS).

The incident disrupted traffic in both directions for several hours on the busy arterial route.

“Two Accident and Emergency Crews were dispatched too the scene,” the NIAS spokesman said.

“Two patients were taken to Antrim Area Hospital, both suffering from non-life-threatening injuries."
