Tyrone police slam 'reckless driver' after officer hit by car

A police officer has been hit by a car in Northern Ireland.

The officer was responding to a report of cars being driven dangerously on the Tartlaghan Road in Bush, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, at around 11.30pm on Tuesday.

He was hit on the legs by a silver Lexus which did not stop. A second dark-coloured car also fled the scene.

"Thankfully the male officer was not seriously injured," said Inspector John McKenna.

"However, the reckless actions of this driver could have had much more dire consequences.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw these vehicles in the village or surrounding area last night or on any other occasion to contact police in Dungannon immediately on 101.”
