University Street closed

NI Water, as part of its Belfast Sewers Project, is about to commence permanent road carriageway reinstatement at University Street.

This completes the sewer replacement work carried out in south Belfast in 2008.

To facilitate the reinstatement work, University Street will be closed to through traffic from its junction with Dudley Street down to the Ormeau Road.

However, access will be maintained for residents and business owners. This closure will be in operation for a period of two weeks from Wednesday November 3. Traffic travelling between Botanic Avenue and the Ormeau Road will be diverted to Donegall Pass. Diversionary signposting will be in place.

NI Water’s Bill Gowdy said the work is “essential” to improve the sewage infrastructure. If you have any queries, contact Waterline on 08457 440088 and quote ‘Belfast Sewers Project — Sewer Rehabilitation’.
