Up for auction in Northern Ireland - Jaguar fighter jet and art by Picasso, Lowry, Dali, Lautrec, Chagall and Kandinski

By Rachel Martin

Northern Ireland auction-goers could snap up unusual bargains - such as a Jaguar fighter jet - this weekend.

Discerning bidders will also have the chance to cast their eye over thousands of rare works of art including a Picasso, vintage whiskies, champagnes, cases of wines, Persian rugs and diamond jewellery.

Also in the collection are classic cars including a Riley Elf, an Austin Healey and a Jaguar E-Type, and life-size sculptures of people and animals.

The items come from a luxury goods wholesaler based outside Edinburgh which has now closed.

The auction will be run by Charlie Williams and includes a selection of 30,000 items.

Art lovers have the chance to own works by some of the most sought-after artists in the world including Picasso, Lowry, Dali, Lautrec, Chagall and Kandinski.

And sport fans should keep an eye out for signed and framed collections featuring Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Valentino Rossi and Tiger Woods.

Because of the vast size of the collection, it will tour the UK.

The Northern Ireland auctions will be held in the Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick this weekend, October 15 and 16.

However, some of the larger items - such as a Jaguar fighter jet - will be sold through sealed envelope bids.

Because the lots are part of a commercial sale, all bids will be subject to a 12.5% buyers' premium as well as VAT.

Items are available to view on Charlie Williams' website at
