UU cuts fees to attract new students from Britain

By Staff Reporter

Ulster University is to offer a discount on tuition fees to students from Britain.

It will offer students beginning in 2017/18 a £2,000 discount on fees or a £1,000 discount plus money towards travel and accommodation.

Students from England, Scotland and Wales can also choose to receive money towards purchasing a MacBook Pro.

However, even with the discount, the £9,000 in fees paid by students from Britain is more than double the £4,030 paid by their counterparts here and from the EU

However, British students will effectively now pay £7,000 or £8,000 a year, depending on which discount option they choose.

Queen's University, meanwhile, is to charge £9,250 in tuition fees to students from England, Scotland and Wales in 2017/18 - up £250 on last year.
