Vagrant pervert's disorder charge

A homeless man once jailed for looking at child pornography in Belfast's Central Library has been remanded into custody charged with disorderly behaviour.

A police constable told Belfast Magistrates Court she believed she could connect 43-year-old John George Kennedy Reid to the charge that he used disorderly behaviour on High Street in Belfast on Friday.

She added that with 140 previous criminal convictions, including 11 for similar offences, police were objecting to bail on the grounds that he would reoffend and did not have a suitable address.

His solicitor submitted that previous courts had accepted his address, given as the bus stop beside the Europa Hotel on Glengall Street, and that he "wished to apologise" to the court for his behaviour which he cannot remember because he was so drunk.

In 2011 Reid was jailed for a year and had a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order imposed on him after he admitted using computers at Central Library on two consecutive days in June 2008 to look at images and videos of children being abused.
