Van driver escapes injury in east Belfast armed robbery

A van driver making deliveries in east Belfast has escaped injury following an armed robbery.

On Tuesday January 13 at around 5.30am in the Arches Retail Park the driver was approached by two men, one armed with a suspected firearm.

The driver was threatened by the men who then removed two bags from the back of the van.

The two men left the area in a black coloured car in the direction of Sydenham.

Both men wore black coats with scarves covering their faces.  The driver was not injured during this incident.

Detective Sergeant Dolores Black is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact CID in Musgrave on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
