Victims Commissioner Kathryn Stone rejects call to resign
Victims Commissioner Kathryn Stone has been urged to resign after she declined to label the IRA and UVF as terrorists.
Hardline unionist Jim Allister has tabled an Assembly motion condemning the commissioner, now a year in office, and urging she "consider her position".
But he motion is unlikely to win majority support in the Stormont business committee that decides what gets debated by MLAs.
Mrs Stone said: "It is not my role to make legal or political statements or judgments about innocence or guilt. I am not a politician... I shall continue to fulfil my statutory responsibilities."
The row came after she was asked if she believed the IRA and the UVF were terrorists and replied: "Some people would say they were; others would say they weren't."
