Video: First glimpse of Jamie Dornan fighting for his life in The Fall series 3

It's the moment The Fall fans have been waiting for - the first glimpse of Jamie Dornan as Paul Spector fighting for his life.

Excitement is building ahead of the hit BBC show's third and apparently final series, also starring X-Files FBI agent Gillian Anderson as tough-talking detective Stella Gibson.

Series two of The Fall ended with an excruciating cliff-hanger as Dornan lay shot in the arms of detective Stella Gibson.

The fate of Dornan's Spector was unknown as the last words heard was Gibson desperately shouting "we're losing him" while he appeared to lose consciousness.

But now fans have caught the first glimpse of Dornan in a dramatic trailer on RTE One as he lies on a hospital bed covered in blood with medical staff working on him.

Meanwhile, Gibson waits in the wings to hear of the condition of the serial killer.

Dornan revealed last week on the Radio 5 Live Kermode and Mayo's Film Review when the drama will air.

He said: "We finished the third series in February and it comes out at the end of September."

Speaking previously Dornan said: "You can expect the unexpected. There's quite remarkable turns in the third season that I really genuinely think people won't see coming that are hugely exciting."

Anderson plays detective Stella Gibson, seconded to Belfast from the Metropolitan Police, to sniff out serial killer Spector who stalks the city streets for his female prey.
