Video: Teenager arrested after Union flag stolen from Belfast Orange Hall

Police are investigating after the theft of a Union flag from an Orange Hall in Belfast after footage was posted online.

The footage - posted on YouTube - apparently shows an unidentified man climbing a flagpole at Whiterock Hall in the Dunboyne Park area of west Belfast.

The short clip shows the man - who has a hood obscuring his face - removing the flag.

An 18-year-old man has now been arrested by police over the theft.

"On Wednesday 24 July, police received a report of the theft of a flag from an Orange Hall in the Dunboyne Park area of West Belfast sometime between Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 and are investigating," a police spokesman said.

"Police are aware of a video which has been posted on the internet and will examine this as part of the investigation along with any available CCTV footage."

They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

DUP councillor Brian Kingston condemned the incident and said the flag was stolen in the early hours of Saturday morning.
